We are very excited to announce our first art show in the new space that we moved into over the holiday season. The artist behind Social Living is a life long friend whom I met in 5th grade. Our common bond at first was of course skateboarding. He introduced me to fingerboarding, art, making graphics, videos and even using cameras. So it only makes sense to allow my good friend Darrin Milliner to host the first art show pop up here at the new store location.

Artist and designer Darrin Milliner wants you to be open, to think for yourself, to be who you want to be. To spread his message he created Social Living in 2017, a lifestyle brand with clothing, accessories, art, and home goods all featuring Darrin’s creative designs. Growing up in Beaver County, Darrin and his friends began creating photos and videos of themselves skateboarding, which led him to a local, arts-focused high school, and eventually, a creative life. When the city beckoned, he moved to Pittsburgh and started working in art, graphic design, and media production.

Social Living 6 steps to freedom

Many of Social Living’s designs are based on Darrin’s work in collage. For years, he has been collecting old books, piles of magazines, posters, and other vintage printed materials. In his studio, he carefully selects, cuts and assembles them into new illustrations and visuals. Working both by hand and digitally allows him to create unique designs which end up on Social Living products, including wall art, t-shirts, hats, lighters, and other accessories. With a retro style and a counter-cultural message, Social Living invites you to feel empowered to be yourself.
